Bowen Estate Shiraz
About The Winemaker
From Australia’s premier region for full bodied, rich Cabernet comes Bowen Estate. Offering only three estate labelled wines, The Bowen’s leave all that needs to be said to the wine. This was made evident when we met Emma for a tasting of her most recent vintage. The wines were poured, we smelled, we tasted; There was no need for marketing spin. We only then began to discuss the nuances in these excellent examples of the region famous for terra rossa soil. The same day we were fortunate to sample a 2009 bottle of Bowen Shiraz. The wine had softened gracefully, with subtle notes of leather and dried plum emerging over the palate. It truly was a delight. Bowen have made an incredible effort to produce a wine that is both enjoyable in youth as well as matured.
Grand Cru Review
A classic big and rich Australian Shiraz. Displaying rich red fruits and American oak characters on the nose. The rich fruit characters are again evident on the palate and leave your mouth singing with bright seductive fruit flavours, well balanced with fine long classic Coonawarra tannins. This is a beautiful wine to drink now, but will evolve into a little beauty with age.
